Fairtrade Australia New Zealand was delighted to recently receive a very generous donation from Open Insurance (Open) as part of Open’s commitment to 1% for the Planet. 

The 1% for the Planet program was founded to prevent greenwashing and provide accountability for organisations that want to show they care about the planet.  

Participating organisations pledge to donate at least 1% of their revenue each year to approved environmental charity partners. Open divided their donation for 2021 into thirds – donating more than $24,000 each to Fairtrade ANZ, Greenfleet and the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. 

Fairtrade ANZ is listed as one of 1% for the Planet’s certified environment non-profits and we also encourage licensees to offset their fees with us through the program. * 

Open is the first organisation without an existing link to Fairtrade ANZ to choose us as one of their charity partners and CEO of Fairtrade ANZ, Molly Harriss Olson is thrilled:

If you are a 1% for the Planet business, then you can get double the bang for your buck!  Because we are an official partner, 100% of your licensing fees can go towards your 1% commitment. You can use your quarterly invoice to prove your contribution so there is no extra paperwork needed!
