The Fair Brew: From Timor-Leste to the World

Coffee is more than a drink. In Timor-Leste, it is a source of income, community and opportunity for thousands of farming families.

The Fair Brew: From Timor-Leste to the World takes us into the farms, homes and communities behind the country’s coffee sector, sharing the stories of farmers working through challenges including volatile prices, climate change and limited access to markets.

The film follows two Fairtrade coffee cooperatives, C-CAT and Haburas Kafé Organiku, which together work with more than 1,400 farmers and reach over 12,600 people across Timor-Leste.

Through Fairtrade, coffee-growing communities can access fairer trading conditions and invest in priorities such as climate resilience, clean water, education and opportunities for women.

Timor-Leste also holds an important place in coffee history as the birthplace of the Timor Hybrid, a naturally rust-resistant coffee variety that helped protect the global coffee industry from Coffee Leaf Rust.

Watch the film above and meet some of the people behind the coffee.

Because behind every cup is a person, a family and a community — and choosing Fairtrade can help create a fairer future.
