Fairtrade & Human Rights
At Fairtrade ANZ, we are committed to upholding and promoting human rights in all areas of our work and are guided by the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Our mission is to empower farmers and workers in the Global South, enabling them to secure fair wages, safe working environments, and sustainable livelihoods.
We believe that every person has the inherent right to live and work in conditions that are free from exploitation, discrimination, and abuse, and to enjoy the freedoms that ensure dignity, equality, and respect.
We are steadfast in our commitment to the Fairtrade standards, which align with the UDHR by safeguarding fundamental human rights and setting strict prohibitions against child labour, forced labour, and discrimination, while upholding gender equality and environmental protections.
By supporting Fairtrade ANZ, businesses and consumers contribute directly to a global movement for ethical trade, human rights, and sustainable development. Fairtrade ANZ is dedicated to transparency, accountability, and ongoing improvement in our practices. We collaborate with international organisations, government bodies, farmer organisations and communities to advocate for human rights policies that drive systemic change across industries, in line with the universal values set out in the UDHR.
Together, we can build a fairer, more just world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive with dignity and equality.
